If you use Decoder Pro with a suitable interface like the "Sprog" you will be able to read all the CV's & store a record of each locomotive's settings. In a way you could also use it as a form of inventory.

Not too sure of the price of the Sprog, although its quite reasonable, but Decoed Pro is freeware.
