Wondered if my Kadee electrmagnet could be used for Dinghams? Haven't purchased the dinghams yet.

Also wondered with the ferrous rod used on a Dingham could be replaced with a chain of similar material instead, a little like the Spratt and Winkle type? The chain would need to be rigid so that it acted as a lever arm I guess from looking at the website images.

Any thoughts? Has anyone actually done the Carrs metal blackening on them?

Well apparently this was a silly question as Kadee magnets move the Kadees apart horizontally where as the Dignham magnet needs to move the coupling vertically so the answer is no you can't use the Kadee.
