I mentioned that DORA was being thought of by Accucraft over a year ago on the G forum and eventually she arrived from China and one No.76 was sold to me ... trouble was I tried to save money and had her delivered to my son in the States ... but the packaging was very large and it didn't fit in his luggage so stayed in the States to my dissappointment. However his conscience pricked him and he posted it to me at horrendous expense and today I diverted myself fro m other modelling activities and gave her a first steam-up.
This followed my discovery that her wheelbase is almost the same as my Mamods and the running frame fitted her after making some wooden chocks.
So here she is cooling down ...

Impressions ... She is a two cylinder oscylating engine driving the wheels through a 2:1 reduction. The works is situated between the outside frames with the simple reversing lever up into the cab.
A gas supply fitting is supplied but it doesn't fit what seems to be a standard with English locos such as my Bertie from Roundhouse attaching to thee ubiquous camp fire cannister ... so I used Bertie's which worked a charm and she filled easier than Bertie has done.

The roof of the cab lifts up and over to give access the boiler filling hole, gas tank, and displacement lubricator

Her couplings, a simple pair of plates with holes in them made securing her for the 'run' very easy with an off-cut pin from previous riveting
Strikes me as a nice simple arrangement and I will adopt it for rolling stock with making some short holes and rod connectors the way some mining outfits worked I believe.

So I am glad to have run her for a short time without any problems and impressed at her simple and functional arrangements ... she will win no beauty contests but will be a good workmare I'm sure

Next Day and out on the track, just a running track no buildings whatever ....to show lift-swing cab roof, the twin cylinders and the smokebox door opens for lighting .... though I use a BIC gas stick lighter.

Ran well on track
