Hi, I have just installed a double slip at the junction of a figure of eight circuit, the loops of the eight are seperated by insulated fishplates. One loop works ok but the loop containing the double slip constantly shorts. What am I doing wrong and how do I wire up a double slip

I assume that you are using an insulfrog double slip and not an electrofrog version?

I use electrofrog slips myself but if I remember correctly, you have to isolate the double slip from the rest of the layout and feed it directly. So that's 8 insulating rail joiners all round and two wires - one to each side of the crossing. On an Insulfrog slip, the point blades feed the power to the narrow angle. For Electrofrog you must feed the narrow angle via separate switch contacts.

Hi David, many thanks for the info. The slip is insulfrog so I will do as you suggest and see where that leads me, cheers Canopus
