Hi,
I have just invested in an ECoS DCC controller for my N gauge layout, but some years ago I had a Hornby Elite with 9 point/Acc Decoder units.

I am loathed to throw them away,

So my question is simple, will the 2 work in unison? Or am I flogging a dead horse on this?

I have tried to wire the units up, and search for them using the ECoS, but nothing.

Any help would be appreciated

The ECoS won't be able to automatically find the accessory decoders because the decoders don't have a RailCom reporting ability. But they should still work fine if you tell the ECoS which addresses to use.
So, either use the addresses you created on the Elite, or put the decoders on the programming track and reprogram them (using the CV values described in the Hornby manual), and then add them to the ECoS internal list of accessories (turnouts).

The Elite could be used through the "Sniffer" port, but quite frankly, why ? If you still have the Elite, either a second layout or sell it !

Hi Philip. Are the accessory decoders from Hornby and if so what type?

OK. Some scrolling on the Hornby website brings me to a question for the experienced Hornby enthusiast on here:
Is or is not the Hornby R8247 NMRA compatible?
Since the Hornby website only states other decoders are, and nothing is mentioned on the R8247 I would suspect it might only work flawlessly on Hornby Controllers.
I know this is a problem using NMRA decoders on Hornby Select (Not a problem on the Hornby Elite)
Anyone here that knows if the same problems occurs when using a NMRA Controller on the R8247??????

Best Regards
JC
