Hi all i have an esu ecos that does not like to power up properaly
it boots to the home screen then hangs and does not let me use any of the functions with the pointer .
it has firmware v101 downloaded from dcc web site . any help would be helpfull before i throw i accross the room.

You might get a quicker answer if you post the same query on the Yahoo ECoS list. There is an English speaking German on the list who seems to know the answer to this type of problem even if it is "return to manufacturer". The group name to look for is ESU_ECoS.

There is also the ESU ECoS support forum which although mainly in German if you post in English you will get a reply in English.

Hi Popeye, I have just come from a 3 day public display with my Ecos. 8 hours non stop each day.
I had a similar experience late on Sat pm(1st day). What had happened was, an accidental illegal shut down (switch turned off at wall).
Turned switch on again and Ecos booted up and, like yours, was locked up, no amount of coxing and talking nice, even some nasty talk, did no good. Turned off at wall, unplugged at back off Ecos, low and behold, green go light still showing. After thinking Ecos was possessed I removed the batteries, green light went out, replaced batteries, turned switch on, Ecos booted up and went back to normal and has been OK ever since.
I am not saying your Ecos was shut down incorrectly but try removing batteries, boot Ecos up and see if it come back to normal.

Thanks for the quick responce guys.
i have tried new battries before with no results .
after posting i up graded to v1.1.6 this has had no effect apart from putting a nice little icon on the bottom for booster current etc.
the system booted up to the home screen and displayed the help menu which would not go away untill i re booted .
the unit worked has not worked since .
still boots to home screen and hangs.

Yahoo ecos list where could i find this? have you got a link ?.

I'm not very good at how Yahoo lists work. Try going to the Yahoo home page and using some facility like "Search for Yahoo list" enter ESU_ECoS as the list to search for. I've given the exact text to use.

Failing that, search through some old posts on this Forum because I know better details have been posted before. I think maybe June / July last year?
