I am about to instal one of these decoders to my DB V100 shunting diesel.

There is one cable colored : Purple with the end loose the others are all on the 8 pin socket.

Does anybody know what this cable is for?

Thanks

Hello Baykal - you asked: Re the ESU Loksound V3.5

There is one cable colored : Purple with the end loose the others are all on the 8 pin socket.
Does anybody know what this cable is for?

*** This is the negative for the fourth function

the 4 functions are:
White - front headlight usually (-)
Yellow - rear headlight usually (-)
Green - anything you like (-)
Purple - anything you like (-)
Blue - common positive for all 4 functions (+)

Hi Richard,

When you mean anything you like, does it mean, for example, the lights of the coaches or a smoke generator ?

Thanks

Baykal
Hi

Yes, the 3rd/Green and 4th/Purple can be used for anything - for example cab light, flickering firebox light, smoke generator etc...

Thanks Richard,

Now that my Esu ECos has arrived am in the realm of chipping my locos.

But believe me, am having a very hard time in finding a place for the loudspeakers.
I guess thats the price you pay for tender driven loco's of FLM and ROCO.

I know Maerkliners are having a laugh at me now.

Thanks again for the info.

Cheers

Another question:

The only place for the decoder in my Br 44 is just below the coals in the tender. However its nearly touching the horizantal motor.

Will the magnetism of the motor have any effect on the operation of the decoder?

Hi Baykal: You asked - "Will the magnetism of the motor have any effect on the operation of the decoder"

***No, its quite safe. The only one to avoid placing hard on the motor is the Licro in an HO install - heat is an enemy when the decoder is already working hard - however the standard 3.5 is never stressed with a reasonably modern production HO loco, so its quite safe.
