ESU steam decoder

Has anyone bought an ESU steam sound decoder?

I've just bought a solitary steam loco for my modern image layout(1980's), it's a Bachmann Pannier tank.

Has anyone fitted the South West Digital 2 cylinder sound decoder to this or any other similar steam loco

Does it sound good?, is it an easy fit?

Hi Sqeaky recently fitted South West Digital 2cyl sound to Bachmann hall its brilliant worth every penny i will be buying another one. I live in Bewdley by the Severn Valley Railway and the sound is exactly like the real thing.
There is one problem which i would like some help with, since fitting the sound chip the loco stutters so badly that using kadee the coaches uncouple. The following was checked; clean track - clean wheels - motion checked in case it was catching -- internals checked to make sure bigger SWD chip wasnt catching - altered the startup cv as per SWD instructions but still no good. This might sound daft but its worth getting chip just shunt with loco the sound is that good. But this stuttering is doing my head in HELP!!!!

Interesting. Have you other ESU decoders that work fine?

Yep including SWD in diesels, often there can be a problem if the locos arent run in first but this loco has several hours of running on a large circular type layout. The only other steam sound i have is ZTC and that has never worked right, but Andy at DCC Supplies is having a go at that as a last resort otherwise its going in the bin.
