*** I did have a go at this in my late teens - 1970-something... Using Brass curtain rail and fan drive/battery power initially, followed on with some of the then "new fangled plastic" H section curtain rail with slot car copper tape each side of the lower H member.

Never did get the "wheeled" mechanism I tried to create to work well...

There's certainly a working scale model of Sydneys Monorail in the market somewhere - with sectional monorail track... Its been a while since I saw it but it didn't look at all badly done... and it had gleaming white monorail Mike!

*** apparently the Sydney Von Roll monorail model is now being done by ER models.... here is a picture of the set (taken from Ebay). there are also added track packs available by the look of it.
