Hi I have been looking for old photo's of Gloucester GWR station specifically the North side that backs on to Great Western Road . There was a quite substantial station building incorperating two Mansard roof's with flat tops and cresting. There were a number of GWR stations with these type of designs one I think that Kidderminster is still here on the Severn Valley Railway but also the former Ross on Wye I have found another but there is no information on it's name but it is not Gloucester. The photo's I have seen are from the inside the station were the roof's are visible above the platform canopy . I have tried the National Archive's and the Gloucestershire Archive's on the internet but so far no luck I will try a visit to the Gloucestershire Archive centre (which ironically is not far from where this building was) to see if they can help me further. I will also try the local library but these may have to wait a while because of work. This side of Gloucester station was further from the city centre and with most passenger traffic using the other side was closed and later demolished . Any help trying to find some pictures or where else I might look would be welcome there should surly be some record of this place. Jim

Thank you both for your replies John the two pictures are ones that I have found trouble is you expand them but they don't show any detail still nice try. In the first one you can see the station approach which joins with London road and Great Western Road . The second picture shows the Midland goods shed and yard between them and the GWR station you can see the Midland coach sidings. At the bottom of the picture the two hundred and seventy five yard foot bridge that went between the two stations. I will sign up and see if the zoom improves on what I have used. In reality both stations were interesting with some unique features to model. Thanks again. Jim

Hi I have signed into Britain from above a very useful website and using the zoom did give me the best view perhaps only one I have seen. However the clarity is lost zooming in and only gives a vague outline. It certainly looks far larger than the other more used side. I have seen a few pictures of the buildings from the platform and the doors and window apertures are still visible but what they were used for I can't even guess. From the outside there are some scarring where the buildings were, I shall have to take some pictures myself. Still fascinating trying to locate this view. Jim
