My best suggestion, don't dismantle the motors at all unless there are mechanical problems such as the bearings are badly worn. Just cut the felt and feed it round, arranging the cut ends inside the metal retainer.
This was my thinking too thanks, not trying to create more problems for myself. I bought the motor on line to try an fix an old Jinty spare chassis that my dad got me when I was a kid and cleaning that motor components still was dead, but I am only new to taking this hobby up again. My best suggestion, don't dismantle the motors at all unless there are mechanical problems such as the bearings are badly worn.
