Fitting lubricant replacement felt to X03 X04 motor

I am looking for advice how to fit replacement lubricant felts to a Triang/Hornby motor? Does the new one I might buy dismantling the motor to hoop-la it over? Just wondering if cutting the felt makes it significantly less robust.

The reason I ask is the replacement motor I have bought via eBay has no felts and many of my other engine felts look tired or gummed up. I expect it would be daft to run the motor minus a lubricated felt. Thanks

My best suggestion, don't dismantle the motors at all unless there are mechanical problems such as the bearings are badly worn. Just cut the felt and feed it round, arranging the cut ends inside the metal retainer.

This was my thinking too thanks, not trying to create more problems for myself. I bought the motor on line to try an fix an old Jinty spare chassis that my dad got me when I was a kid and cleaning that motor components still was dead, but I am only new to taking this hobby up again.
Sorted now thanks. Hadn't twigged it is under a spring clip on worm drive side and the felt stretched over and on magnet side after marking North I can get to other felt and fit thant too. Really glad I found this forum. I will pitch in when I can for others too, although I have a lot to learn!
