QUOTE (Doug @ 23 Sep 2008, 18:59) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The motor seems weak and feeble. It only runs if I give it a good spin by hand to start it off. I ran it in some deionised water for a few minutes and the brushes seem fine. It just seems weak and stops at the slightest pressure. Seems as hough the magnets have lost all their force. A mini screwdriver hardly is attracted to the case.
I know it's a bit late, but this might be worth a look. If it's got brushes, I'd be inclined to give those a good check. Since they're the part of a motor which is designed to wear out, there's a chance that they've worn down over time and aren't making a good contact anymore. Even though they may look alright, if they've got significantly less carbon on than when they were new, it can seriously affect the motor's running. Can you get them out to give them an inspection ? Are they held in with spring clips, or does the motor shell have to be dissembled ?
