Hi, I have just recieved a copy of the Scalescene kit via email as my copy was damaged during print production & many thanks for the prompt and excellent service your team gave me. I would like to know if you plan to offer more kits like this why can't you offer a download facility with a redemption/ promotion code in the magazine to stop people damaging their magazine? I do not know the ins and outs of offering such a service but I feel it would be a great addition to your magazine service.

As an N gauge modeller are there any plans to release the free Scalescenes kits in 2mm? I already use Scalescene kits and the waiting room would fit perfectly in a small diorama I'm currently building.

If you have access to a colour copier you could reduce and print on that. Alternatively if your PC has a printer scanner that should be able to do it as well.

The only trouble with scanning and reprinting in my eyes would be the loss of quality? not sure if it would be noticeable in N gauge.

Don't forget - you would also be reducing the image which means that the reduction in clarity would be minimised.

Hi all,

Yes, it will be released in N-gauge.

John Wiffen(Scalescenes owner/designer) can't release the kit until the magazine has run it's course.
Seems fair as Hornby magazine have probably commissioned John to produce the kit for them first.

When the other kits have been in the magazine, they are normally put up on the Scalescenes web site when the next issue gets released.

You could argue that the magazine is OO and you want N but it's only a month to wait.

I also want one in N-gauge as well!

I have had an email reply from John asking this very question, he replied while on holiday!!

Hi guys,

I've been considering the possibility of producing the free kits in N gauge as well, but as I'm sure you can appreciate there are costs grounds to take into account in terms of physically printing them.

As already mentioned in this post Scalescenes does add the kits produced for Hornby Magazine to its general range - in both 'OO' and 'N' gauge - after we have published the original. Each kit, with the exception of the brick arches, is commissioned specially for Hornby Magazine and I hope you've been enjoying what we've been producing.

Shaun: with regard to offering the kits as a download, it is something we will consider further.

Thanks,

Mike Wild, Ed
Hi, thanks for the reply Mike, as someone who worked in the print industry I can understand the costs especially when the kits are printed on decent paper. You will never please everybody if you had a download only version as there is always someone who doesn't have access to the internet. Keep up the great work
