according to bachmann dynamis web site faq's you are able to set to latch or trigger, which latch means on/off when ever the fuction button is pushed. trigger is sounding the horn/whistle by pressing the button again. is the way i read it, in other words once the decorder is set to trigger and on, pressing the function button at anytime will sound the horn or whatever without turning the function off. hope this helps.
