Gaugemaster Prodigy and ZTC sound modules

I am having problems getting a class 47 fitted with a ZTCsound module to work. I have managed to set an address and get the loco to move under DCC but the sound module does not seem to respond to the Function keys
I know it is an old decoder that supports on 3 digit addressing so does anybody know how to activate the sound chip or any ideas of what to try to resolve this isssue

Does anybody know if there any compatablilty issues between ZTC sound modulles and the Gaugemaster prodigy system

You might have to turn the sound on sometimes this is F8 or the manual might mention a mute key
press a few buttons and be daring !
