Hi Guys,

Well, e-bay strikes again only this time I knew what I was getting. I won an auction for 2 GWR 0-6-0 Tanks from Rails, 1 runner, 1 non-runner, for £20.

Well, they arrived in the week and I have had chance to have a look at them - the runner is a very nice runner and when I put the non-runner on the track to my surprise the motor turned, although the wheels do not.

Looking closer, it is the front cog that appears to be the problem (the one that connects from the top of the loco to the ones on the wheels) in that slips rather than making contact. Looking at the bottom it seems to be lower than the others, but it is tight up in the body of the chassis.

There is only 1 screw holding the base-plate in place and this is the opposite end to the cog that seems to be causing the problem.

I have removed the cog and it doesn't seem to have any wear on it, but there must be something wrong for it not to be making contact.

Any ideas on where I can get the screws on to hold the body in place (it only needs one as there is a slot at the back) and also the front of the plate in place?

Any thoughts on the cog problem?

Try http://www.brlines.com/ they have a lot of Farish spares. The plastic cogs are notorious for splitting.

I had an e-mail conversation with the guy at BRLines and apparently it's a pre 1974 item and they don't do the spares for it any more.

Going to have a look at lifting the cog up slightly and see if I can get it to make contact properly.

I have checked the cogs and they don't appear to have split, which is a positive I suppose.
