there are no handles protruding outside the bodyside. These coaches were built right out to the loading gauge hence the recessed door and commode handles. You will find these a bit of a pain, but looking at your standard of coach building, I am sure you will have no problem. The H40 commode handle is beween the door an the end on the R/H end of the coach as you look at it. This was not changed when it was rebuilt in 1947. There are quite a few pictures in Russell's books - any 'Riviera' stock has this type of handle. Also, make sure you do it in chrome - that was a feature emaphasized by the GWR itself!
