Glad to see you back on(railway)line!! Here's to a speedy and full recovery.

Hannem gave me some ideas for possible expansion of my own layout, so I hope you'll take it as flattery rather than copying (if I ever get it done!)

Welcome back Graham,

Was that a self-imposed absence? You were missed but now you're back, so the equilibrium has been restored.

Just a short note to any other Aussie fans of Graham's work - the issue of Railway Modeller with Hannem featuring in it is now in newsagents.

We miss you mate - hope you are in good health and humour, and that Bag Lady of yours is keeping your pillows fluffed, and your teapot filled!

Regards

Scott

It is very moving to read Graham's own words as he acts as tour guide for a trip around the Hannem Central layout in the January 2013 Railway Modeller.

The last two paragraphs seem to me to sum up his whole philosophy in re-creating a grand mainline in its heyday.
"we find ourselves in a deep stone faced cutting. There is a junction to our right which we will journey down shortly, though in the meantime.....we may have to wait for other trains to pass.....we will just circulate until the signalman is ready. Then our train will take the junction route and we will head downwards....into another...tunnel...from which our train will eventually return, travelling in the opposite direction back to the big terminus station from which we originally departed.
Perhaps what is beyond that tunnel mouth is another version of that mysterious parallel universe...I referred to earlier."

I'd like to think of him perhaps taking his seat for afternoon tea, circulating in that parallel universe.

The magazine gives him a deserved pride of place and the photographs are stunning.
No one on MRF should miss it.

I was very saddened to hear of Graham's passing, with an obituary in the March RM. Re-reading the recent articles in RM make it all the more poignant.

My condolences to his family and friends.
