Heljan, who have part of their manufacturing in China, paid a visit to their Chinese contracters to talk about new product developments and to see the production facilities.
I thought that it would be interesting to show some of their photos of the trip.
These are the new buildings (7.500 m2) of the supplier and their facilities.
The facilities for the 450 workers are highly rated by Chinese standards.
In China it's normal that most of the workers live on site. Here, 350 persons live at the factory.
The Heljan management and designers discussed projects such as the Electronic Container Crane, the Operating Turntable for both "HO" and "N", the Pr Machine, Class 33, F5 Rejsegodsvogn and Class 35 in "O" scale 1:43 ½.
They were impressed by the manufecturing process of the Class 35 "O" with its many different production processes. For example the painting requires 54 different processes whereafter the tampo pad printing starts and requires 71x2 prints.
Heljan certainly are doing a good job with these products and are spending time making sure that everthing is perfect.
They are now off to see Walthers, located in Milwaukee (Wisconsin) USA, to talk about future projects. Whilst in Milwaukee, they will visit "Trainfest" which is on at the same time.
