Hi, This is Brian here from sunny Phuket... well it is at the moment.

Hello everyone, just wondering if there are any more members in Thailand or am I really on an island!

Having spent many years with military modelling plus a couple of cars and motorbikes I have just made the leap forward to model trains... so I am a bit of a novice in the field... although I look forward to bringing my modelling skills to bear on the scenery and buildings.

I originate from Wolverhampton and support the Wolves, but have been in Thailand for over 18 years.

I am currently the Senior Pastor of Phuket Christian Centre and apart from my church work have been involved in rebuilding Kamala School that was totally destroyed by the Tsunami. With the Sussex Police we have opened a children's home, appropriately called Sussex House and have nearly completed a nursery school for Tsunami orphans in Thai Muang about 60 miles north of Phuket.

I have accrued bits and pieces from UK (OO), Canadian (N scale) and German (N scale) and have decided to first concentrate on a late 1950's early 60's OO scale model of my home area (the main line between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

Finally, thanks to Brian Lambert for recommending this site,

Looking forward to getting to know some of you better and hope there's someone else in this neck of the woods!

Welcome Brian from another Brian,

Nice to hear about some background - us railway modellers are just about everywhere & it's great to be able to keep in touch with the www.

There's plenty of advice & answers to questions available, so just ask away if you need anything.
Thanks Brian...

Just reading through a few of the topics... there's a lot of Brians about!! Do we come in OO or N scale???
Hi Brian welcome to the forum. I think Dennis who's currently in Singapore would be closest to you at the moment.

Good luck with your layout.
Thanks Neil... Hope to hear from him.

By the way I've got one other guy whose a keen railway modeller on this island... my son-in-law and he's an Aussie from the Newcastle area. I am in the middle of constructing a house here in Phuket which will have quite a large room specifically for our layouts. At the moment it has no roof... but we are getting there.

Dont forget photos are always welcome too. - You could start off by showing the room (minus roof) and progress works from that point on?

Sawadee Khun Brian,

Another farang here! I have just moved to Chon Buri, although I have lived in this lovely country for 16 years.

I had an old Triang 00 set as a boy, but somehow managed to lose it during various moves over the years. Just starting up again at the ripe old age of somewhere over 50!

I'm also looking at the 50s and 60s era, no particular line or region in particular though.

Mark.
Yin dee thee maa ruujaak, Khun Mark

We seem to be slowly growing in numbers in Thailand. That makes 4 of us now. There is another Aussie here in Phuket (Dave) and a guy named Max in Chiang Rai (he is into O guage).

Maybe one day we'll have a convention!!

I'm in the middle of building a house... finally sold up in UK after 18 years of living here... Thailand is home now... and yes the new house will have a room for building a layout. I've not built one yet so it will be a bit of a challenge... but an enjoyable one. I am off to UK in August for a couple of weeks and hope to come back with a few goodies!

I'm almost at 50, by the way... just a few months away.

Nice to hear from you,

Brian
