Just getting the handle on this computer stuff and finding out just how good it can be.
Have been a modeller for far to long, started with BR southern region in the early 1960's and then moving to German HO when my relatives give me Fleischmann as presents and I have never looked back.
At present I have a 6M x 2.5M layout project based on Wuppertal Elberfeld DB Epoch III,as shown on my website.
I still have much to do.
Wonderful hobby.

Thanks Tom,

My impression was that they did it on purpose to models so that one could weather it as he seems fit. Solely for weathering or painting the model.
Now I understand the reason.

Just as a further point,

I think all loco manufacturers turned out locos in workshop or "photographic" grey. it was always a matt finish with wheels and buffer beams in gloss. It gave good tonal quality and being a flat finish did not reflect light.

That's really nice David. You don't know if they still make that model do you? I want one!

It's a Liliput Austria model.
I know an updated version is available, but I have not seen the grey one for a long time.

Thanks David, it's one of those I have to have one moments. That really looks fantastic.

It suffered from the steam pusher effect in the tender and has had a japanese replacement motor

But glad to say it runs even sweeter now

I notice some on Ebay from time to time, but please be wary if you take this route to getting one.

All the best,

David
