Another important thing to remember is that the chances are all front doors will be a different colours. Curtains behind the windows also make a big difference to appearance.

Curtains are easy. Assuming you are glazing the buildings they only need to be a suggestion of material behind the glacing. Toilet tissue makes for a reasonable effect and has the advantage that if soaked in liquid poly will stick to the glazing material.
