I'm retuning to the hobby after some three decades absence on any practical level, although the plan I've worked up - yes, there is a plan, more of which in the not too distant future - has evolved over the last dozen years, off and on, and purely to a stage of how it will look, the intricacies of electrickery in particular will be worked out as I progress
. There will be an inevitably protracted period as I re-learn old, lost skills, and develop new ones.

I'm early retired through disability but have a fairly diverse range of interests, and do a little volunteer stuff for the support agency working with me so even without too many foul-ups and reworkings my contributions here may be sporadic. I don't imagine I'll be contributing anything remotely groundbreaking to this community, but my purpose is to extend a friendly and constructive voice which I hope will be of some interest, and maybe the odd chuckle from time to time

Regards.

Hi & welcome to MRF.

Be sure to keep us all posted of your progress - enjoy the hobby & MRF.
Hi there SDB and a warm welcome to the MRF.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge in the past 30 years but I'm sure you'll soon get back up to speed.

Any help or advice needed, just ask away and someone will be along with advice/a solution in no time at all.

Cheers for now,

Expat.
Thanks Brian & Expat,

I'll get the hang of the system here and hopefully post my 'cunning plan...' soonish, I've made a start on baseboards without too much fuss but any encouragement and help will be very welcome indeed - just follow the sound of hysterical laughter and the question: "What was I thinking!" being posed repeatedly.

Regards

Hello and welcome to the forum
Hi right back at you hairyhandedfool, thanks for the welcome

I reckon I'm getting to grips with posting instructions so I should start a layout thread at the very least in the next couple of days.

Regards.

Hi there and welcome to MRF

If you ask me planning is the best bit - it's free. Love the avatar.

I think I detect another Douglas Adams fan?

Hi to my new antipodean (as I am from your perspective!) friends, G'day, it's great to be on board.

Free is my favourite price tag, given the potential investment in 'the great plan' I'll need to make savings somewhere
, fortunately friends are priceless...
The bear was in charge of the miniature railway at West Midlands Safari Park, smilingest feeling ride I can recall.
Yes, among my many and varied favoured funsters DNA ranks quite highly, also it lifts the tone of a location like Brum a touch - can't imagine you'd ever feel the need to stoop to such tactics - I don't know your location but it just sounds like it should'nt need that kind of help

Believe me - if I put Margate (home of Hornby Towers) it wouldn't sound half as nice!
