Just like to say hello, my name is Pete Evans. I'm a member of a couple of forums in the USA hence my username. I model BR Southern Region in the mid '50's in "OO" (hoping to base the layout on Gravesend Central), Conrail's Southern Tier Line somewhere between New Jersey and Bingampton in the mid '90's in "N" scale and just to confuse matters I also dabble in O-16.5 loosely based on the Snailbeach operations near to where I now live!
With three young children, this keeps me more than busy!

Welcome to this forum. I used to live in SE London (Woolwich) and occasionally passed by train through Gravesend to get to Herne Bay and other places on the Kent coast. My secondary school was alongside the Mid-Kent mainline between St Johns and New Cross, so from 1957 to 62 I saw plenty of 'Spam Cans' and other SR steam.

I've returned to modelling in the last couple of years after a 45year break. My layout represents a preserved railway, so I can run anything I like on it. The layout also can run Hornby Live steam as well as the traditional 12v locos.

Regards,
John Webb
Welcome to the forum Pete we hope you enjoy.
Well done on choosing one of the best counties to live in have you challenged caer carradoc yet as it provides a brilliant view around your local area
Welcome Pete. Should be plenty here to hold your interest.
Thanks for the welcome, it's nice to feel at home.

I lived in the Medway towns until I was 21 way back in 1973, so I have reasonable memories of the end of steam as a result of the Kent coast electrification in 1959. For those who know the area, I remember sitting up on the Great Lines (near the war memorial) and watching the trains going over Luton Arches before disappearing into the tunnel under the Lines on the way to Gillingham and the coast.

Ben, no I haven't scaled the heights of Caer Carradoc yet, however as my house backs onto the Long Mynd I've been up there a few times.

Pete.
