I just found this forum so signed up.

I've been modelling for years and years. Recently I seem to do more collecting locos and planning my latest layout but not actually doing much layout building. I am a fan of German railways from era 1 to Era III.

I've had a quiet year because of chemo/radiotherapy treatment but now I'm ready to start a new layout, probably around the Trix model of Dammtor station and a city centre scene. Lots of plans but not much action yet.

Anyway, I'm pleased to be onboard and look forward to talking and learning.

mostly DR but also been acquiring a bit of Era 1 stuff, mainly because of domestic resistance to any more locos that are black with red wheels!

This weeks projects have included repairing a Rivarossi 59 and fitting a Digitrax decoder to it; and rebuilding a DJH DR59 that was not too well made in the first place. What with the Trix Era 1 model, that makes three 2-12-0 locos I've got - does that qualify as a fetish?

The Dammtor station is still sitting unmade in its box, but I keep looking at the manual and wondering whether to start building.

I've just bought a live steam model of the Zillertalbahn 0-6-2 for the garden railway and that should be up and running next weekend.

My HO layout is in the attic and this morning I realised that running 10 locos all fitted with sound can be quite distracting. All thise train noises and then not being able to remember which loc had which adress. Must be going senle.

Well. they are not all running at once, but they all have the sound switched on so lots of noise coming from them all.

I sympathise with your 01 fixation. I'm just doing a conversion on the Roco 01 to model 01 046one of the locos fitted with a mischvorwarmer. I say just, but the loco has been sitting half done for about 5 years waiting for a bit of inspiration. Still, thats one of the nice things about this hobby

excellent site. Very impressive!

My German railway fascination started when I bought a Marklin set second hand and much prefered it to my old Hornby trains.

The 01 conversion parts are from a collection of Weinert parts I got in Holland a while ago. These were several complete and part kits sold by a guy who was giving up modelling. Included were kits for 23, 64, several 01 models and parts as well as thousands of odd castings and detailing parts. It was a real alladins cave of stuff which I've still not completely sorted.
