Hello again,

At last, the much promised and much awaited IC 2000 doubledeckers or 'dostos' are on the way for definite!!
The Lemke now has pictures of the Bt and WRB Bistro pre-production models and so I can hardly contain myself!!
Time to order a rake or two, without which it would be quite tricky to model epoch V passenger trains in Switzerland!

Any idea what the bulletin-board code for reducing image size is?

They seem to be prototype models and I understand from the Spur-N-Schweiz forum that Lemke have said that
the slope of the front of the Bt driving trailer will definitely be correct on the actual model as some people seemed
worried about this! The prototype was just that...

The real train looks very striking I think, and therefore definitely a good choice for a model!

It certainly is - now all I need is an excuse to buy a set !
Excellent news indeed I was starting to wonder if they would ever appear! Any idea on time-scale from prototype/pre-production to delivery in the shops? I have a feeling that a pre-order will be a must as so many modellers have been waiting so long for these.

More than one rake is going to cost you a fair bit Goedel!! I winced when I realised what one of each would cost and that was before the Euro went skyward in value. That said I won't be able to resist!!

I only hope that their ability to produce an excellent product is superior to their ability to place rolling stock on the track

Hello Geoff, according to Lemke then October 2008 is their latest allegation but I wouldn't trust it! But now that I know they'll definitely be coming then I'm not so worried - once you've spent the money on getting the design done the only way forward is to release the models. Even so they look excellent so and I have to say that my previous Lemke purchases have always been superb models esecially the Taurus series of late.

Regarding the cost, the best place I've been able to find so far is www.lokshop.de who I think take credit cards or Paypal which is great for those in the UK. Yes I think more than one rake could stretch the bank balance a bit but then there are several possibilities over what length train to run depending on the route. (I think I want the shortest rake that has all five types of coach in!)

Everything from

Re460-AD-B-B-Bt

to

Re460-AD-A-A-A-WR-B-B-B-B-Bt

has run at some point I think, according to this sNs page...

I think I might go for Re460-AD-A-A-WR-B-B-B-Bt (or BR instead of WR, whichever model they are making) which I understand runs on the IC2000 Zürich-Biel service or is that a touch heavy on the first class (even second class with the SBB is better than most first classes here I think, especially as the trains run on time!)?

He he, yes they go to all the effort of setting up the lighting and getting the focal length sorted and then fail to get the bogies on the track...makes one think derailments should happen more often in real life!

They look really good Goedel.

How much are they?

A photo I took of the train formation poster at Interlaken Ost station in 2006 shows the IC formations as being 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2. They appear to classify the dining car as 2nd. The only other information on the poster is that cycles can be taken in the driving trailer second. There is no mention of the fact that the first next to the locomotive also has a baggage section. A model of this still eludes me in HO; a rather good model train shop we visited last Friday week didn't have one (or HUPAC end cars either for that matter
).

This particular set up is the only one I have seen on my trips to Switzerland. As I have mentioned before, rush hour trains are strengthened by attaching a single deck driving trailer and two single deck coaches to the other side of the locomotive. There is a small fan of sidings at the entrance to Basel station where they are stored during the day. That's on the way in from St. Johann; we were arriving on a TGV from Mulhouse on a day trip
We returned on a local train

Neil,

Lokshop in Germany are quoting €33.21 for the 1st and 2nd class carriages, €37.36 for the 1st baggage and Bistro car and €41.51 for the driving trailer 2nd class. These are the cheapest quotes Goedel and I have found so far. Lokshop will also remove the German VAT at 19% for delivery outside the EU.

In UK MG Sharp are quoting respectively for the same items £32.99, £37.50 and £41.50 so still cheaper in Germany even with the strength of the Euro at the moment. Sharps will deduct VAT but whilst ours is at 17.5% they only deduct 14.894%

Thanks for that Geoff, I have only just realised that these are N. So I'm really looking at the Roco ones. if I want these.

That's because they are accounting for the VAT content correctly.

Of course, not thinking as it was late! I was struck by the 3 decimal places, not something that seemed to need thousandths of a percent.

***Yep....

VAT on = 100+17.5% = 117.5
VAT off = 117.5 - 14.894% = 100

Hello Geoff,

I'm just placed my order through Modellbahn Pürner who have excellent pre-order prices:

€33.00 for A and B coaches
€37.00 for WR, AD and Bt coaches

I think there is a small surcharge for orders outside Germany so it depends which models and in which quantity one orders, but I recommend them from my experience and the expressions of others.

Happy hunting!

Hi Gödel,

Thanks for that - not come across them before; great price on the Bt!! I shall investigate further.

Probably one for Gödel but now mid October which was the prediction in August - any update or news on release dates of these? Getting close to asking Santa!

Hello Geoff,

You'll never guess what...!!
QUOTE (http://www.lemkecollection.de/)SBB IC2000 Doppelstockwagen, der geplante Liefertermin wurde verschoben. Neuer Termin ca. Nov./Dez. 08
...delayed until "around November/December". Make of that what you will, and of course if they don't manage them this year, there's always 2009, 2010, 2011. Sigh...
Never mind, as I don't even have a working layout yet it won't hurt me if they are delayed a bit more I suppose, especially if there is any chance the Pound will claw back a few Eurocents in value! I think we can take comfort from the fact that the postponements are getting smaller and smaller time intervals. I hope that Zeno is not involved!

Anyway, at least from the preproduction model pictures they should be fantastic when they do arrive...very odd for a Swiss train to be late though...hehe. So many jokes and not enough time...

We are getting a bit closer still...!!

Here is a picture of the prototype models from the Köln model exhibition, which is in the thread here on www.1zu160.net (in German). It's good to see the bogie cowling is going to be on the models and presumably is designed to move outwards to cope with tight model railway curves in a similar way to the Roco H0 model!

I'm actually allowing myself to get excited about these, Lemke must by now have reached the point of no return in terms of investment so the models will make it to production (this decade)?!

Also there are plans for more Taurus models from Lemke / Hobbytrain / Kato: railjet, railjet and railjet, a black MRCE cargo Taurus, the Taurus 3 (OBB 1216 etc.) in 2009, more Re 460s etc etc. Looks like 2009 will be expensive to for modern image Swiss and Austrian modellers!! Hurrah!!!

Also the first ever track tamping machine in N scale will be here shortly from Lemke! Spoiled rotten or what?!

Just goes to show that all good things come to those who wait.
Latest news is March 2009 delivery. (I think you asked Geoff) At least we have pictures of prototypes etc. I will be satisfied to wait if we see pictures of a painted prototype model in January/February as the new items are announced across the manufacturers.

P.S. Could a nice moderator resize or delete the above picture please? It is very annoying as it breaks the format of the forum, sorry for posting it in the first place! (Perhaps automatic resize of big pictures in the next software update?!)
Many thanks for posting the photos, I have been watching the development of these coaches with great interest. What services uses the coaches, are they region specific?

Thank you

Tim
