Hi, just received my January edition of British Railway Modelling, complete with the usual Hornby 2008 Calendar.

As usual(for this calendar), no all new products as such, mostly new liveries, and one possible clue............

R2746 Class 60 in EWS (It is hard to fins the original EWS one now)
R2566 Live Steam Twin Tender Flying Scotsman (Abandoned in 2006 due to lack of orders, now back following Simon's hint in the Model Rail interview, I was hoping for a Live Steam Streamlined Coronation to be honest, but there you go)
R2717 Britannia Late Crest Apollo
R2726 Patriot BR Early Crest Private W.Wood
R2723 SR N15 Olive Green
R2748 Class 50 in the same Large Logo livery as all the others, right down to the light grey roof. (What are Hornby on, there are so many interesting livery variations, but they seem intent on churning out the same loco with a name and number change. Anybody fancy clubbing together to buy Simon a book on Class 50 liveries?)
R2223A BR Early Crest Fowler Tank (Yawn)

A couple of coaches, a petrol tanker, and a Skaledale sub station and bungalow.

But before you drift off to sleep......Wake up!
Is this a cruel trick or a possible clue, the 2008 Collectors Club Model is an 06 Diesel Shunter in fictitious 'Blue Pullman' livery, complete with the Pullman crest and logo straight from the 1960s, I kid you not.

If there is no Blue Pullman this year, then somebody in Margate has a cruel streak!

Why not do the Dutch liveried 50 (50 149 if memory serves).

BTW there are a lot of people in Margate with a mean streak
(well it is where I live!)

The dutch 50 is 50015 (Valiant) - 50149 was done as a Rail Express ltd.

I did hear that the collectors club model for 2008 was an 06 ... Ah well it may well convince me to get the blue pullman set at some point As in the FMRail version of it ...)

Also on the subject of better class 50 liveries some more which spring to mind that would have some interest that would make good models by Hornby - 50008 'Thunderer' in its blue colour scheme with grey roof, 50019 'Ramilies' in blue (Again) but with the large numbers and logo and finally 50046 (?) 'Ajax' as i think that was large logo but had a black roof instead of grey.

QUOTE (cbeagleowner @ 12 Dec 2007, 18:51) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Does Apollo have OHL stickers at all?

No OHL stickers, though remeber at this stage they are usually just computer enhanced imagaes.

The only point of interest is that the grab holes on the smoke deflectors appear to have brsss lining, looks nice, but again will it be this way on the production version.

Sorry for the large number of typos in my orignal post, I was typing in a hurry earlier.

Hi all,

Just curious about the new Class 60 for 2008. Would you be able to tell me what number it will be on the Locomotive?

I suppose there's now going to be a flood of the older ringfield powered HST power/dummy cars hitting the market.

I wonder if Rail Express will get their knuckles rapped for this early note, not complaining as it's a good list but I doubt beating the Hornby announcement will go down too well!
They've chosen ESU decoders as well so that is a big plus as both big manufacturers are using common electronics which should bring the prices down on the decoders to retro fit the older stuff too. (I can hope . . )
