Hornby now have their own Class 43 Locomotive on the national rail network painted in Hornby colours. The loco will be seen running around the UK during 2006.

Will this be one of the new Hornby models available in the 2006 catalogue?

I'd be suprised if its not done as a limited edition model to celebrate something.

Never know with Warley coming up ... Whats the bets they have painted one and are going to have it running or given away similar to what Virgin did.
How about next years collectors club freebie !!!

That thought had occured to me, but unlikely!

I doubt that it would be a limited edition either as I have a sneeky feeling that if it was in the 2006 catalogue then it would be one of the locomotives that would sell in higher than average numbers. It might be one that Hornby put in a set as it would certainly look good on the box artwork.

No need for a matching trailer unit and an ability to plonk it on any layout based anywhere in the country gives it a wide appeal.

And it would probably be popular with clubs who exhibit as the young kids watching the layouts at shows would be waiting for the Hornby 125 to make an appearance. Makes a change from Gordon or Thomas or Hogwarts.

there was one going rount the hornby demonstration layout at warley!

Not really my thing but some of you might be interested.

I took a few pictures of the one running around the Hornby layout. There are plenty of pictures to publish over the next few days as and when I get time.

Did anybody spot the error on the "Hornby" Class 43 that was running on the layout?

Besides it having the guards compartment at the back of it which is on all the hornby hst's anyway ... um ... (After zooming in some of my photos) ... The only thing i can find is that it was going round as '47087' on one side (Might just be distortion of the photo when zommed in)

Looked very nice and i hope Hornby decide to realese it next year in some form.
Thats the one. Spotted too late to withdraw from the show Hornby decided to allow the loco to have an outing anyway. Somebody's poor handwriting at Hornby Towers was to blame apparently!

Lets hope the production version (they are bound to release this surely?) has the correct number however if Hornby have already made 40 or 50 with the wrong number can I have one pretty please!

From what i found out Hornby have 4 of those HST's with Hornby on the side. If all of them have 47087 on the side, then its gotta be one to get hold off somehow.
I don't get it. Does it have a different number on each side or is the number format incorrect or is it just that the 7 should be a three?
The British High Speed Train HST 125 is a Class 43 and all loco numbers therefore begin with 43...

The prototype in the first post is 43087 so if you had a Hornby example in your collection that was a 47087 it would be a rarity indeed and very collectable!

Hornby made a Scalextric Batmobile about 15 years ago based on the original one in the first film. One of the production team at Hornby walked in Simon Kohler's office with a production sample and asked Simon what he thought of the model. Simon said "double the size of the Batman logo and you can start production".

The production manager was slightly alarmed as 100 had already been produced with the small logo. Simon said don't worry and package them for sale anyway as nobody will notice.

Unfortunately collectors did notice!

This Batmobile with the small logo is a prize possession for any collector and they now fetch ££££ in mint condition!

Wow, just think of they had printed the logo upside down, there would have been a riot I tell you.
it would be a great laugh if they spelt "Hornby" wrong!!

Peter
Especially if they left the "b" out which I once did in an Ebay advert !!!
Talking of misspellings...

Now who remembers the billboard advert proclaiming that Virgin Trains new stock
was more horny than Hornby?

I remember having to look twice when I first saw it!

The billboard was actually designed to draw the eye of potential female train passengers who happened to be fans of the writer Nick Hornby! (female Nick Hornby fan =
apparently! )

This was explained to me at some point although not remembering when, and not before I spent several weeks wondering what on earth Virgin Trains were trying to say!
