I just wanted to add my twopennyworth to this thread.
I chipped 2 class 31s over Xmas, 31 174 and 31270 with Hornby decoders and I have to say they are absolutley superb. They run as smooth as silk and look the part. Now my Heljan Western is adifferent animal and very disappointing - it runs Ok but it sounds like a class 31. I dont thinks its the chip, a Hornby one, but the gear towers. i doubt I shall not buy another of these prefering the LIma version which is easy to detail and uns very well with a Hornby chip.
