Hornby have recently released pre-production images of the new super detailed Class A1/A3 locomotives "Flying Scotsman", "Great Northern", Windsor Lad" and "The White Night". All locomotives feature the highly rated Hornby 5 pole skew wound loco drive motor, sprung buffers, cab and tender detail and a fixed rear wheel assembly (as the prototype). All examples of the new model will be DCC ready and feature NEM couplings. The images below are courtesy of Hornby and have been enhanced by Model Rail Forum to enable viewers to appreciate the effort that Hornby have put in to produce a definitive model of the most famous locomotive in the world and its fellow class members. The Hornby "Flying Scotsman" is a British National Railway Museum special edition and is a replica of the famous locomotive as exhibited by the museum in York in 2004. This permits modern outline modellers to run "Flying Scotsman" steam specials on their layouts. "Great Northern" will be the first model released with the remaining locomotives available by the end of October.
We apologise in advance for leaving the images full size during the photo edit as the detail within the images is such that to make them any smaller would reduce the level of detail within the images. The model may be ordered from any of the Model Rail Forum advertisers and stockists featured in the links section and discounts are available at one retailer for Model Rail Forum members. With Xmas in mind it is expected that "Flying Scotsman" will be in short supply so anybody who is interested would be advised to get their order in now! :-

Happy modelling
