If the stockist believes that there will be demand for products sold this way and is content with the margins taking into account additional packaging time and whatever then really who are we as consumers to argue?
In a free market "if I buy the goods" how I sell them and what I sell them for is my business. Anyother practice is a return to resale price maintenance in order to protect the manufacturer/retailer. There been enough of that in the past, I'm glad we have the vest'lge of a free market. While the passing of the local model shop is regreted circumstances have changed considerably, to large extent the internet has played a huge part in this change.
