hornby decoders in the tender on new models

I see the new T9, Schools and std 4 will have the decoder in the tender.

This for me is the way forward, the yanks have had this for ages. It makes fitting chips allot easier, you dont have to dismantle the body and all those delicate parts, unless of course fitting smoke generator.

It also makes sound installation much easier!

I agree it does make decoder installation so much easier

The down side is all those wires dangling underneath the loco / tender connection.

If they do them in a dirty matt brown colour and install injectors under the footplate we might be fooled into thinking that they are water pipes. There's also the vacuum pipe connection to consider as well. With care they probably would look so bad.

This has been standard in Europe for years too and you generally can't see the wires due to the close coupling.
