Simon Kohler of Hornby has told Hornby Magazine that "The T9 is a very light model, so the boiler will be made from metal rather than plastic. The DCC decoder will be in the tender, due to lack of space inside the boiler, which will make the fitting of a DCC decoder simple"

Hornby have also said that indeed all the fresh steam locos this year will have DCC plugs fitted in tenders to simplify DCC conversion

QUOTE (Doug @ 11 Jan 2008, 07:35) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Very good news.

I'm all for it as long as they do something intelligent with the 4 wires linking the tender to the loco. Fake steam pipes or something and definitely thin and black.
Many Continental locos have this arrangement and you generally can't see the wire due to the close coupling between the tender and loco.
