Hornby loco with metal body

For those of you who don't visit the HO section here at Model Rail Forum Hornby International have released the new Rivarossi HO DB loco with full specification and with metal boiler and tender priced up at around £175 in Germany and around £125 plus tax in the USA.

Now if ever Hornby get around to doing something similar in OO for the UK then £140-£175 may be the sort of price range the model would be offered at all things being equal.

What chance a Hornby metal bodied 9F to out Bachmann Bachmann!


Given that Hornby now have a new 2-10-0 chassis this seems entirely logical!

The Bachmann 9F is already quite a capable puller, so I'm with 34C hoping for something a bit different. How about a smaller loco with character such as an 0-6-0 outside framed Kirtley, a Midland Compound, a 2P or perhaps a higher quality loco drive 4F :)

As I have based my model just east of Leeds, an area where the sheer complexity of its railway history still confuses me, any LMS (or constituent companies) locomotive which worked in this area is fine by me.
