My copy has just arrived. Wonderful article on MPD. Some great layouts. Another Townscenes kit. Quite brilliant. Thank you Hornby Magazine

There is a cover photo and a summery of the contents a little later, on page 2 of this topic. Click here - Doug

Yes I would agree with that, and the article on transporting Trains by road, has some great photos.

Wiveliscombe captured the Somerset/Devon atmosphere superbly.....

Here's the cover image..... quite pleased with that one, I was just on the floor about to pack up messing about with the tripod legs, then looked up and thought "there's a shot"!
Don't look at the web address in the pic for more, you won't find any
However with Mike Wild's persmission, I'll post a couple of out takes from Wivi and Groombridge (also a stunner) once I've seen what's been used (not seen yet) .

I should get mine today - then I can comment properly, but if the photography and content is as good asd previous months it should be a good one.

I have to say Chris - your photography continues to stagger me even though I've been involved with the mag almost from the start! I've not seen the magazine yet, but Wivi blew me away when I was proofing the pages with Mike a wee while ago. And of course, it's nice to see something Great Western on the cover too... though Mike's been trying to 'educate' me away from GWR/WR for years!

Well done - looking forward to seeing the next issue's phots.

Best wishes,

Andy Roden

Mike is a Southern man I believe - he must try harder!

Oh and welcome to the forum.

As promised, a couple of out takes..... (you'll have to buy the mag for more - best repro ever too!)

Groombridge

Wiveliscombe, note how the road disappears into the backscene so well (it's by the tanker).....

Are townscenes the same as scalescenes then? I thought Townscenes made background papers, but wierdly a Google search will retunr scalescenes.com as the top match....

And yes, another fine issue even though I am still reading the last one! Mine is on subscription and never had delivery problems, has the poster above contacted Ian Allan or the Post Office to find out why the delay?

Excellent and nice to see the correct use of road vehicles.

I thought the whole magazine to be excellent, especially the BR 57-66 article.

Keep it up

Have had all issues from No 2 direct by post without problems. You need to check out your subscription and as others suggest ask if it was posted. Do you have trouble with other mail?

Hornby Magazine Issue 11 - May 2008
Another great looking magazine. Plastic-bagged again, but nothing loose in the magazine. It does include a free card kit that is bound into the magazine. They announce on the cover that they have been awarded the 2007 magazine launch of the year, congratulations for that.

The Issue 11 includes:
Layout: Sutton - East coast terminus
Modelling locomotive sheds
Thinking inside the box - Box vans
History: British Railways 1957-1966
Plain sailing - Windmills
Layout: Wivelscombe - Taunton-Barnstaple line in North Devon
Layout project - 3 feet - part one
Electrics: Points
Free kit: Scalescenes Station waiting room
Review: Bachmann 12-ton box van
Review: Hornby Shark van
Many more reviews and reader projects
Layout: Groombridge - Southern OO gauge layout
History: 'Austerity' 2-8-0
DCC: Hornby Elite
History: Trains on trucks

A bumper edition indeed.
