QUOTE (ashleyh @ 9 May 2007, 10:44) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>It seems R2306 was 'The Caledonian' Train Pack with a Super detail Duchess/Princess Coronation loco in BR Green.

In theory, this SHOULD be DCC Ready with an 8 pin socket, however, my experience with recent Hornby Train Packs is that they do seem to penny pinch by not fitting a socket. It's true, my Silver Fox A4 Train pack required the use of a soldering iron, as there was just a gap on the chassis where the DCC socket should be

where would the DCC be ashley ? the loco or the tender ?

dont want to take it to bits to much as its 1 of 3000 loco's made and if i break something i will be
off

QUOTE (ashleyh @ 9 May 2007, 15:22) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>A service sheet will help yes, but it is not a King Class loco, rather a Princess Coronation/Duchess (The sheet for this is also on the Hornby website)

http://static.hornby.com/files/ss-223e-77.pdf links to the sheet for a version without a DCC socket.

I too was initially misled by the name, but then looked up the train pack using the R number.

If there is a DCC socket, then it will be in the loco, but my recommendation to you, as you are understandably cautious about dismantling it, is to take the loco to a specialist dealer who can fit a DCC chip for you whether it has a socket on the chassis or not.

It is a tender drive Ashley

kind regards

Well i have had an email from hornby themselves on 9/5/07 that stated that my loco was tender drive !!!!!!

Well, i have just pulled out the loco from the wardrobe today and hey presto, hornby do not know their arse from their elbow !

it is a loco driven model.

so, how easy would this be now to turn it into a DCC everyone ?

do i need a degree in quantum physics or can anyone do it ?
