That's good. We had problems with that when testing. The Elite didn't work with any of the 3 reversing units I have. Hopefully it will now.
It is excellent that all Elite owners (including the owner of Elite Nr 1) can benefit from the latest updates through a simple download process. Its like having a new console again! And it means that Hornby stockists selling the Elite will always be able to say that their stock is current.

Nice to know that the PC software TrainController has now been confimed as being able to operate with the Elite.

I have a sneeking suspicion that this is linked with other Hornby news to appear in due course.

Happy modelling
Gary
It looks like there are some good improvements in there which will be well worth downloading.

I would be interested to hear how the RailCom feature works on the Hornby. By that I mean what benefit do you reckon you're getting. My experience on the ECoS is that RailCom is still at the "enabling" stage; i.e. don't hold your breath for something really spectacular. Maybe that comes later. Perhaps it would be better to start a RailCom topic, which I've now done here - RailCom resource topic

I have not started this new topic as Troll bait; it's about RailCom, not who has got the best command station implementation.

Great news......

Took a very long time to arrive and there is no fix or improvement for the functions!!!

I can't believe that, I've now sold my Elite as the functions were a nightmare to use...didn't work correctly and so many button presses.
This was reported to Hornby customer support and I was told that they had received alot of feedback regarding the functions, and they've still not fixed it...very odd.

It's a real shame that these issues have not been addressed as it would make the Elite that much better.

I wonder if this new firmware which allows it to work with PC software will enable it to work with JMRI?

If it was supposed to be compatible with an existing protocol, say the Lenz USB interface, but had a bug, then this may fix it.

Otherwise, if it's Hornby's own protocol, there's no reason why the old version couldn't work with JMRI but it needs (1) Hornby to publish the protocol and (2) someone to volunteer to write the Hornby specific JMRI code.
