The loco's im sure will be with us some time in early 2009. With the current situation in Asia I think Hornby have done a pretty good job getting them out this close to their original release date. Also I'm sure that if it was possible, Hornby would have done all they could to get them in the shops by Christmas.
At least the T9 review in Model Rail was extremely positive!
