Interesting new law!

Slightly off topic but relevant to users of message boards.

A new federal law states that when you annoy someone on the Internet, you must disclose your identity. Here's the relevant language.

"Whoever...utilizes any device or software that can be used to originate telecommunications or other types of communications that are transmitted, in whole or in part, by the Internet... without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any person...who receives the communications...shall be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."

Interesting isn't it?

There may be Model Rail Forum members who visit other sites so please be aware of this legislation. We are a good natured community here and we are broadly Euro based. However we do have one or two members from the USA so please take this new law into account as we would not want any member to be locked up for 2 years!

Maybe Euros should avoid communications with those site based in the USA!

The link below takes you to the relevant story from the USA:-

Thanks for posting this Gary, it is a very "interesting" law. I guess I should be very wary as I live about 15 miles from DC!. I am not surprised that Sen. Arlen Specter is one of the sponsors of this law. After all it is he who came up with the magic bullet theory regarding the assassination of JFK.

Probably the same thing as is happening to ours, the only people interested in being in the government are exactly the type of people who shouldn't be trusted to do so in the first place.

If you pee someone off 3 times on the internet without telling them who you are does that mean you get banged up for life then?
I see a lot of people logging georgedubyabush as part of their email address from now on.
