I got back from Germany late last night after a 10 hour drive by myself - partly through a snow blizzard at -12°C - so I'm a bit zonked out. I'll be posting the photos today and I'll then add text explaining what I saw, who I met and what other news I have. Stay tuned.

Well done Doug - have been listening to the weather in France on Riviera Radio these past few days and heard its been pretty bad. They put out a bulletin requesting all Nice residents not to use high-energy domestic equipent as many power lines were down and was overloading the system...
Have Calais - Toulouse to drive on Feb 14 and Calais - Munich on 5th March so keeping my fingers crossed.
Herpa
A shot of a wind turbine (I remember a member was asking about one recently on the forum) Quite big indeed. It turned around and that Goodyear blimp also flew by on a sort of hanging mobile device.
Märklin
They had their typical massive stand. A large layout (that always looks the same as before) I think they just modify it. They always have a big fat controller pressing the buttons all day long. He really looked bored.
Eisenbahnutensilien Christine Zenk
A nice collection of railway articles. Not model scale, but full scale - I am sure they would decorate a layout room quite nicely.
Brekina
Some interesting larger scale models, perfect for running around a garden layout.
Jägerndorfer
Various scales represented here, but if you want a ski lift, cable car system or cableway, these are the guys to check out. Impressive models. I have some video of this that I will put up later.
Ladegüter Bauer
These people always have the stand immediately on the right as you enter the Hall 4A. They always have an exceptional diorama with very high detail - probably the some of the best continental scenery work and very well weathered breaking from the trend of keeping things squeaky clean.
Great pics Doug - some super dios there eg the snow grader and heli, the spare winding motors outside the winch hut and the loader with the gravel truck. I also note the Chinese taking pics at the Marklin stand - just like they did with the British shipping industry before they decimated it. Hopefully this time the intellectual property continues to stay in Europe...
Thanks for posting again - looks like you had a worthwhile trip - I like the train memorabilia stand as well.
ESU
ESU didn't seem to have much new in terms of electronics - at least what I could see through the throngs of people. They really need to get a bigger stand. It was tiney, but obviously very popular. I do have a press-pack so I'll go though it later and post anything interesting that I find.
They did have a little automated layout showing these smoking diesels.
Lenz
Lenz had no electronic items on display. Except an increasing collection of O-guage items. Perhaps they should think about changing their name.
Proses
Our friend Harun was at the show for the first time as an exhibitor. He had a stand that was always full every time I walked past. A very charming young lady was on hand to explain to the visitors what was on show when Harun wasn't around.
Smoke doesnt quite look right (to me) - though neither does it on steam either at standstill IMHO. Needs to be more claggy - like a Class 37 firing up - not unlike this
Pictures quite timely as looks like I will be based in Munich for next 6 months so may have a look at some of these models if I can find a good dealer after some research.

Very funny

They seem to have gone into the model making business like Lenz. One of those diesels looks like a class 66.
Very interesting material and pictures. Thank you.
Am I right in believing that Märklin exists in a sort of parallel universe - none of which is compatable with the rest of H0?
Much as Apple used to be in relation to the PC world.

The difference being that none of the copies will still be working in 50 years time (if they have not crumbled away by then of course).

A case for kidnapping Harun if ever there was one !

I hope the interest was not because of the "charming lady".
Today she faunded a club for "women model railroaders" as can be seen on photos.

This is ESU's new H0 model of the Class 66 and Euro Cargo Rail Class 77.
