I found this photo of British built pacific dating from 1952 on a web site for the Iraqi Railways.

Iraqi streamlined pacific.

It was one of three, I think, built in Britain. This one was named Baghdad, another was El Basra, predictably.
The streamlining seems to be a bit like a Coronation/A4 cross.

Use the right arrow to see what else you can recognise.

What an interestingly, unusual site - a great find!
It does indeed look like "a Coronation/A4 cross"!
A very handsome beast - I like it a lot, other than being in rough condition and a somewhat ill-matched tender of which there is a better shot further into the site, as well as another partially dismantled member of the same class. I am sure these would have looked wonderful when new.

Thanks for something that is definitely a little out of the ordinary that is also really attractive.

Quite an interesting prototype to model wouldn't you think? "Yes dear, just off to Iraq to take some photos for my model railway...."
