That all sounds like the stuff, my Bro got about half a box from a swapmeet and we got through that very quickly. Now I'm building a new layout for myself I thought I'd see if I could get some as it doesn't look too bad once it's been painted ballasted and weathered. But only if it's a lot cheaper than the Peco stuff.
As for the not being very flexible, I only need it to be more or less dead straight and I've not seen any problems with flanges running on the chairs on Brians layout, including some Lima mk1s with pizza cutter flanges.
