QUOTE (Robert Stokes @ 27 Jun 2008, 11:09) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I have just had delivered in the post a brand new Hornby Jinty in early B.R. plain black number 47281. I immediately noticed that the number on the sides of the bunker are rather larger than on an identical quite old Hornby Jinty 47458. Does anyone know which size is correct and why Hornby have decided to make the change? Thank you, Robert.
Depends where the prototype was last 'shopped', LMR works - 8 inches, NER/ER - 10 inches, WR/SR - 9 inches.
One example ( cant remember which) was out shopped at Darlington, and had it's number central on the tank side, over or under(?) the crest,I saw it at Crewe South shed.
