QUOTE (Doug @ 29 Jan 2008, 14:47) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Thanks for those links.

Check out the Lima. South African re-releases.

The don't look anything different to the old models. Perhaps the motor has been updated. Anyway, I'm still happy about it.
Quite a bit of Australian stock in the Lima range too.

Jouef have some fantastic modern trains and autorails. The World Speed Record TGV is there too.

Looks like the coaches may have close coupling mech's. If these pics come from Hornby it shows that they have a habit of showing daylight through their models - a slightly different angle would probably look better, but less honest ?

Now, a question - I assume that these are 3.5mm/ft scale running on 16.5mm track, so does that make them broad gauge ? (if memory serves me SA is 3'6").

Doubt that very much - as Neil say, the German market is the critical one weather people in the UK like it or not. The efforts will be concemtrated in the mainland european markets first, sure some products will be available in the UK but probably not as freely as we (including myself) would wish.

QUOTE (adecoaches26point4 @ 30 Jan 2008, 13:52) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I must admit the Wagon Lits coaches are some very nice models, put either a Big French,German or Austrian pacific on the front of a rake of six plus coaches and run it at scale speed, it makes for a very elegant visual train

That's what we are trying to achieve on St.Laurent !
