Hello,
Junee Station in south west NSW underwent a moderate re-vamp in the last twelve months. Looks like they removed 150 years of paint layers before repainting and levelled out the footpath and gutter.
Built in 1883, Junee was the home of NSWGR loco maintenance for many decades.
Main entrance
The building to the left was the old NSWGR main office, now occupied by Australian Rail and Track Corporation (ARTC).
New roofing was done also.
The main platform.
The XPT (read 1980s HST) runs daily from Sydney to Melbourne. Six car set with sleeper and buffet.
The Griffith Explorer comes in from Griffith as a two-car set (not XPT) from a western spur line. Driver relocates to the other end and train then runs the main line north to Goulburn.
At Goulburn, a three-car set from Canberra is added and the five cars then head on into Sydney. Sorry, I don't know the make/type of this train. 1990's I think.
From the platform, looking south.
There's a major container hub about 10-20km further south, so a lot of rolling stock in this area. As part of the Inland Rail Project, the footbridge will be removed. There's a road bridge just near the signal box and that will be raised. This is to accommodate double-height container stock.
This tree is somewhere between my place and the proposed rail line.
