QUOTE (41235 @ 21 Apr 2008, 21:49) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hello, I suppose some of the "old hands" in the hobby will have an answer for my query, do Airfix still do model railway locos ?
I have an AIRFIX Midland 4 in full working order, had it on the track today, runs very sweet.
It is still in its original box, but I dont know if they are still going.
Anyone know ?
Hi - Airfix(GMR) stopped doing model railways well over 20 (possibly 30) years ago, when the original firm went bust. Dapol bought most of the model railway moulds, made some improvements and produced them for many years. About 10 years ago Hornby (desperate for some decent quality loco & wagon moulds to replace their aging ex-Triang based ones) bought them from them, made a few more changes and has been producing them ever since.
GMR stood for Great Model Railways.
