It came as a surprise to everyone. A former TCDD 56548 kreigslok is now in its final stages of repair by a private company and will be hopefully operational April/May.

Can't wait.

Just a thought, perhaps only slightly off-topic.

If anyone wanted to see a Kriegslok up close and personal, there is one in the yard at the Nene Valley Railway near Peterborough. It doesn't run anymore unfortunately and so is on static display.

Like I said, just a thought....

Jonathan.
They raally are impressive brutes - I look forward to more information in due course.

Regards

Jonathan.

Is that the one that used to be at Bressingham ?

Having stood next to it, they truely are a big brute !
I'm not sure if it was ever at Bressingham or not, but the loco used to run regularly on the Nene Valley. Must have been an awesome sight. We do at the moment have 377 King Haakon from Bressingham, as City Of Peterborough is in the workshop having its boiler refitted.

King Haakon is great, very easy to fire and generally just a lovely engine. I am there this Sunday preparing it for the special train for the Bressingham guys. Hopefully the weather will be kind.

Any idea what work is required to get the loco running again ?

If I remember correctly there was also an 01 4-6-2 & an 80 (or 86) 0-6-0 tank in the UK - wonder what happened to them ?
Oh far too much to ever get it running, new boiler at least which is probably £100k ?!

Complete strip down, just generally too much work, or at least, way too much money.

If you go to www.nvr.org.uk there is a list of all stock running and static.

Best I win the lottery then !

I wonder how many pairs of shoes I'd have to buy to get that past the domestic authority ?

Thanks for the information. (I forgot the 86? that used to run on the NVR as well).
So far as I know, everything that is there, apart from 1 small tank used to run regularly along the line.
