Hi guys after I get my stitches out I have decided to rejig the layout as the way it has been was getting far too complicated and impossible to reach the back of the layout.

I am now wanting to use the origional boards I started with and make the tracks go round the back and lead into a fiddle/storage yard round the back of the backboards.

I am working in N gauge with Kato track and am wanting it to be a DCC layout as I am in the process of converting all my locos to be ran on dcc.

I am struggling though with how to get the tracks round the back as I am going to have to build some back boards that will allow the curves to go round but I am limited to what space I have as my diagram will explain. The shed also has to be able to store the usual stuff like lawnmower tools and other household items. And I am also struggling to get a good design of a fiddle yard round the back so that I can get a decent realistic length of wagons/coaches behind my rolling stock but also have enough space for locos to be stored.

I have already purchased 3 lots of curves 1 set at 282 11" 45deg radius and also some 216mm (8/9 16ths") 45 curves so and also a set of 249mm 9 3/4" 45" curves so that I can make up 3 lines coming off from the left of my boards and only 2 lines coming back on from the right hand side of the boards.

If anyone can give me any help it would be appreciated and any questions you need answering I will try my best.

Yeah I've just realised it is down as a bmp file I will change it straight away to a jpeg. My bag sorry guys.

With regards to the points after the track goes 90deg from the origional boards I agree I just need to work out how big a board I will need either side to be able to allow the 3 curves coming off on the left hand side of the board and also to be able to accept the 2 lines coming onto the board at the other side.

I already have the 249 curves but am waiting for the rest to arrive as I only ordered them on saturday.

Not sure if it helps or not but I did a 6' x 4' shed design for another member a short time ago which incorporated a low level fiddle yard. With your 7' + overall length you will be able to extend the fiddle yard enough to get decent length of trains in.

Thanks for that Expat that is the kind of thing I was looking for now if I could just work out the size of the board I need to do it so that it doesn't take up all my shed otherwise SWMBO will do her nut...

Err. yeah and I've just seen a pig go flying passed my bedroom window......

She finds it hard to let me have time in my shed as it is. She did say though as long as she can easily get to the garden stuff in the shed she is ok with the layout. Once I get the layout sorted I will modify it slightly to encompass the gardening equiptment or even stick a lockable door on the other part of the shed and stick the garden stuff in there even.

Honestly she would rather remove her arms than help me out with my railway stuff, The only part she wants to help me out if she has to is to buy me some small bits for it if she is in stockton and pops into my local model shop. But that is few and far between.
I have been trying to persuade her into helping me out with trying to purchase one of the gaugemaster lt rolling road units though. She did bork thouh when she saw the price.lol.
