Hi Harkins,

Not sure if it helps or not but I did a 6' x 4' shed design for another member a short time ago which incorporated a low level fiddle yard. With your 7' + overall length you will be able to extend the fiddle yard enough to get decent length of trains in.

Glad it helped.

If you raise the board height to approx. mid chest level that should leave plenty of room underneath for the 'gubbins' and keep SWMBO happy.

Just a thought but you might be able to pursuade SWMBO to make some curtains to hide all the 'gubbins' so you get the best of both worlds. You never know, she might even start to get interested in helping you with the layout. On second thoughts maybe that's the last thing you want.
