QUOTE (billericaybill @ 29 Mar 2009, 13:36) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>hi Richard
Your answer in one way goes to the heart of the problem, and that is that absolutely none of this information is in the manual. I can only presume that Mr Lenz thinks that humans have inbuilt coding knowledge to fill in the gaps in his manual.
Specifically, there is no delete button or delete function mentioned in the manual (that I can find) so I cannot delete. I could overwrite a number with 0000 but I cant think of another solution. There is a 4 digit method (section 8.3) which I have always used successfully in the past. But I cant get back to 0003 by this method.
Sorry if am ranting but I am frustrated that the manual has none of this info. I would admit to be digitally dyslexic but I would expect the manual to rectify this deficit for me if I read it diligently. Is there such a thing as a complete manual online, or even better is there some accepted language protocol that can be learned ?
But right now I would be happy to acquire or look up a button pressing sequence to get me unstuck.
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
After 13 1/2 yrs in DCC and working in a large hobby shop (retired now) I have yet to find any system manual that is completely understandable. As a friend of mine says " written by experts for experts"
Now for the LH90 and putting in address's etc.
First I suggest you do a system reset which will put the 90 back to address's 1 thru 8
1. Press arrow then scroll with 0 button until srceen reads SYS
2 Press A
Srceen now shows flashing Y and solid 10
3. Scroll with 4 button until 9 shows
4. Scroll with 3 button until 9 shows
Screen now reads flashing Y and solid 99
5. Press A
LH 90 has now been set to address's 1 to 8
Scroll with A to get each address.
If all 8 address slots have been filled with 4 digit address's etc, and you want to enter in a single digit EG 3 do the following.
1. Press arrow then scroll with 0 until screen reads ADR
2. Press A
Screen will now show 4 numbers (one of your entered loco address's) with a flashing dot above and to right of 3rd digit from left.
3. Scroll with 1 untill you have 0 as first number
4. Scroll in turn with buttons 2 & 3 untill 2nd & 3rd numbers read 0.
5. Scroll with button 4 untill 4th number reads 3 ( or desired single digit address)
6 Press A.
You now have loco #3 dialed in. Open the throttle and away you go.
You don't have to do a system reset each time, I only suggested it to give you a clean slate to start with and give an idea how the LH90 works in relation to selecting different op modes etc.
I hope this helps you.
Re flat batteries in Lenz command.
I have a 10 yr old 01 set, upgraded to V3.5, battery has never been changed, still works a treat.
I also have a six yr old LZV100 command updated to V3.6 battery is still A OK
I know of other Lenz users with systems as old as mine (some older) with original batteries and still working well.
